Town of Leesburg

Lafayette’s Return to Leesburg, a campaign celebrating the 200th return of Lafayette to Leesburg & the Town’s history!

During this internship,

I worked to create short form video content for the town to expand their social media presence on Instagram and Facebook. Creating these reels was one of the reasons I was brought on to the Town of Leesburg Public Information team, because the Town as a whole wanted to create a personal & unique messaging style that they felt their social media pages lacked.

Before starting, I did research on other neighboring Virginia small towns to see how they were communicating with residents, prospective residents & tourists. Specifically, I looked to the Town of Middleburg, who’s social media pages are managed by Red Thinking (a small advertising agency in the Broadlands, VA) and focus on the elegance, charm & history of the town. This was what I wanted viewers of the Town of Leesburg social media pages to feel.

So, while I was largely a one man show, I did my best to reorganize the Towns pages. No more graphics (or at least limited amounts), high quality images and Leesburg charm. I used our local shops, businesses & restaurants to my advantage at the beginning hoping to pull viewers into an idea of small town living. Eventually, I broadened my scope to include the inner-workings of the Town such as our water treatment plants and parks.

By August, the reels, Lafayette campaign and Welcome to Leesburg video became most popular posts to our social media. Gaining new followers, comments and increasing viewership with every new post.

Redesigned Brand Guide

Brand Guide

At the Town, I was tasked with organizing and redesigning the brand guide in the hopes of making it clearer to all the departments what Town content should look and feel like.

Welcome to Leesburg

This video was planned, filmed, & edited during my time as an intern with the Town of Leesburg. The task was to revive the long forgotten “Welcome to Leesburg” video from a decade ago & paint an accurate picture of the town, it’s values, & charm.

While resources were limited, I knew I had to capture what it feels like to live in Leesburg. And, having been a born and raised Leesburg resident I knew I had to focus on what makes residents love the Town. Therefore, the majority of the shots are of popular local businesses, festivals, parks & restaurants.
